One star great taste award winner 2021

You loved, so we re-released. The ultimate 2018 christmas blend has been re-released as the infamous 'FREIGHT LINE'. We developed this new blend when we moved to our newest roastery just in time for christmas, the response was overwhelming, so we renamed the blend after the freighline's that are above our roastery, we hope you enjoy this just as much as us!

Freightline Blend. Now I see what all the fuss is about!

This is an updated review...

After about a week of trying this in different ways I just couldn't get on with it, finding it excessively dry to the point of nearly throwing the rest of the bag away. This was as espresso or americano with milk. Only cappuccino was drinkable, probably due to the milk adding sweetness. I gave it 1 star.

I couldn't understand how everyone except me could love this coffee so did some more research/experiments. I had been extracting in 25 sec so assumed that I had the grind right but tried one 'notch' coarser just in case. Now extracting 15/28 in a meagre17s the coffee was transformed. As espresso, juicy fruit acidity was to the fore with dryness pushed to the background under that bit of chocolate. French press with milk gave a very similar improvement and a very easy drinking fruity morning coffee. It’s white Americano that seems to have come out best though, now having a distinct strawberry-ness to the fruit acidity. This was a lovely cup of coffee.

This illustrates the joy and the curse of 'real coffee making'. It takes some experimenting to get it just right, and a tiny change can go from terrible to incredible (or in my case from terminal over-extraction to just right I suspect). But that is the fun of it.

So up from 1 star to 5 stars: a superb tasting coffee and really great value. I apologise for my earlier stupidity :)

Roaster Notes

You loved it so we re-released.

Our 2018 Christmas Blend has become one of our staples! We intially developed this blend when we moved to our newest roastery just in time for christmas, the response was overwhelming, that we decided to keep it all year round. Until the day today, Freightline is still one of our best sellers.

Once the christmas season was over we renamed the blend highlightimgh the area of our new roastery: Freight Line, the Award-Winning Rail Freight & Rail Service in Sheffield.
